Covid and Closure of Churches during Lockdown
Due to the closure of churches during the Covid lockdown, we have had to consider how parents will be able to adhere to the conditions in our Admissions Policy with regard to proving church attendance.
During this unprecedented time, and in common with many other church schools, we have had to make different arrangements for Foundation applications for the September 2022 entry.
If a parent/carer attended a given church prior to the closing of churches for public worship in March 2020, then where a parent/carer has not subsequently attended worship at a given church for a given period, a parent/carer will be considered to have attended worship at that church for that period where either the following apply:
A. the church was closed for public worship, or
B. by returning to church the parent/carer would not be taking account of government guidance concerning shielding and protecting persons clinically extremely vulnerable to Covid 19
The Admissions Committee at All Saints CE Primary School Fulham believe that in difficult or unusual circumstances clergy are far more likely to have the local, detailed, first-hand knowledge of applicants and whether their particular church is safe for regular attendance and/or whether an applicant or their parent falls under one of the clinically extremely vulnerable groups identified in the government Covid 19 guidance.
In accordance with admissions arrangements a clergy reference form for the relevant churches covered by our policy will continue to be the accepted method of confirming attendance, but will apply the above interpretation.
